How these calculations work
The mean is the sum of all the numbers divided by how many there are. The median is the middle value once the numbers are sorted — the average of the two middle values when there is an even count. The mode is the value (or values) that appears most often; if every number appears exactly once, there is no mode.
Examples
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 has a mean of 3, a median of 3, and no mode (every value is unique). 1, 2, 2, 3 has a mean of 2, a median of 2, and a mode of 2.
