Temperature Converter

Convert a temperature between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin.

Temperature Converter

Enter a value, choose the units, then select Convert.

How this conversion works

Unlike length or weight, temperature scales don't share a zero point, so conversions use fixed formulas rather than a simple multiplier: °F = °C × 9⁄5 + 32 and K = °C + 273.15. Every conversion here is computed through Celsius as a common reference point.

Examples

0°C = 32°F = 273.15 K (water freezes). 100°C = 212°F (water boils). −40°C = −40°F (the one point where both scales agree).

About these conversion formulas

These are the standard, internationally defined relationships between the Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin scales — fixed physical definitions, not estimates.

Frequently asked questions

Does the result update automatically?

Yes — once you've entered a value, changing either unit recalculates the result immediately, without needing to select Convert again.

Why does the calculator say my input is invalid?

The value field is empty, not a number, or converts to a temperature below absolute zero (−273.15°C), which isn't physically possible.
